PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL

.At last evening's meeting of the Petmio Borough Council there were present' Tlio Mayor (Mr. .J. W..M'E(van), ami Councillors Cox, List, Brocklebank, Anietson, M'iCenzie, Jones, and Truenun. The railway stationmaster at Petone stated that the matter of the pilfering of coal would receive careful attention, and asked that he be advised of any case coming under the council's notice, so that prompt steps may bo taken io Lriug the offondera to account. On the motion of Iho Mayor, seconded by Councillor M'Kcnzic, the following motion was carried unanimously: —"That this council regrets the lops to tho town of another bright life— Mister Thompson—killed in action in Franco, and that a letter expressing its sincere sympathy bo sent to his widowed mother."
