BOWLING
THE NEWTOWN CLUB,
The 23rd annual report of the Newtown Bowling Club states that the membership during tho past year has been well maintained, the total being 107, against 112 the previous year. During the year a sub-committee had been set up, and tho question of selling tho present site and acquiring a lease, of another, as suggested at last annual meeting, had boen considered. No progress had so far been made, though there are at present negotiations which may lead to a great improvement to the club's present holding. The system established last' year for arranging rink 9 for home piny on Saturdays and holidays had proved satisfactory, and it is recommended that it be continued.
The financial review sliows that there is a credit balance of M lGs. Ski., against .£3B 14s. 7d. last year, this position being .duo to resignations, concessions to 6ome members, outstanding ■ subscriptions, and an increased amount of entertaining. Tho directors consider the time has arrived when the annual subscription should bo raised. During the year Mr. J. J. Webb presented the club with two .£1 debentures.
A motion by Mr. Ranson will be moved as follows"That the provisions of Clause 12 of the Articles of Association of the Newtown Bowling Club, Ltd., relating to the amount of annual subscription, be amended to read: 'Every shareholder shall pay an annual subscription'of ,£2 12s. 6d, J " • ANNUAL MEETING 01? PETONE CLUB. . The annual meeting of the Pctone Bowling Club was held last evening, .Air. J. Castle presiding over a large attendance. The report and balance-sheet, already published, were adopted, and the following officers were elected for 'tile ensuing year:—President, Mr. W. I\ Rennie; vice-president, Mr. W. Mellmish; secretary, .Mr. 0. E. Naughton; treasurer, Mr. J.. G. Castle; auditors, Messrs. E. Jones and I'. Wilkinson; trustee representative on committee,-Mr. A. In connection with the Management Committee, by whom the match and green committees are appointed, tho following candidates submitted their names for election:—Messrs. Hay, Walton. Gray, Marsden,i, : j Arcus, - Hancock,",. M'Ewen, Dixon, Kirk,' Andrews, Allen, arid Matthews. Six momburs are required. TEE WELLINGTON CENTRE. ' The report to be presented at, the annual meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre congratulates the centre on its continued progress. The affiliated clubs number 17, with a total membership of 1100. The balance-'sh'eet shows a credit at the bank of .£2l 2s. 2d. During the' season clubs .were asked to assist the fund inaugurated for' the purpose of purchasing Christinas gifts for the New Zealand soldiers at the front; a sum of ,£6B was realised. In nddifcion the whole of the New Year tournament entry fees, amounting to i'5S plus <£1, donated by Dr. Ross, Petone, was handed over to His Worship the Mayor, as a donation to the 'Mayor's Fund ' for New Zwland Wounded Soldiers.
CJlute are asked to note that a club is now only allowed, one delegate at meetings of the centre, such delegate to have the full voting power of his club. ' ■
Notice of motion has been given by Mr. Morrah I "That the Pennant maWtfS be discontinued, aud in lien thereof inter-club matches be arranged between nil clubs in the centre. Each club to compete with not less than eight rinks. The club which wins the greatest number of games to be deemed ttie champion club for the season.
