UNIVERSITY DEGREES
PRESENTATION OF GRADUATES. ■■'■The public presentation of the graduates of Victoria University College took place in St. John's Schoolroom last evening. The chairman of the Victoria College Council (.Mr. C. W'atton) presided, and among those preent were His Kxccllency the Governor, the Countess of Liverpool, the .Minister of Education (the lion. J. A. H*uian), and tlic Director of .Education (Dr. Anderson;. :K Mr. Watson congratulated tho students, and expressed the hope that they would all enjoy successful careers. Some ol them, ho remarked, might become leaders of the community and the country, llr. Watsjn went 011 to say that the extent to which the war had-affecKd the college might bo gleaned a few simple, facts. There are from 200 to 300 past and present students at the front,' and the number was being added to. Tho whole of one <.'la=s was leaving the college at the end of the term to go into camp. One of the professors would leave as an officer of the Engineers with the next draft, ami three assistants of professors were going into khaki very shortly. The college had done a great deal of work to assist in the war, and eomu of the work lie could not divulge. Mr. Hanan also congratulated tlio students' on their success. The Governor added his congratulations, and said that one could not take prt in the proceedings without thinking of the students who had gone to tha front. Tho presentation of graduates to their Excellencies then took place.
