HELP FOR FRENCH SICK AND WOUNDED SOLDIERS.

Sir,—The war hospital set up at Caen, France, by the Church Army, started work with 100 beds (costing .£l5O weekly to run) at the very beginning of the war. The French lied Cross "asked for more." The Church Army added as many as funds would allow, and we have since added two to represent New Zealand at that particular hospital. One is named the "New Zealand Bed," the second the "Hawke's liny Bed." The sum of XIOO has been sent home to maintain them for twelve nionths, from gifts of wool or money generously given for the purpose to tho Weber Church Wool l'una. X b. d. Amount previously acknowledged 85 0 8 Mr. J. H. Richards, Weber ... 0 5 0 Mr. Hoani AVhibley, Hastings 02 1! Bishop L. "Williams, Napier... 5 0 !) Mr. G. N. Phnrassyii (2nd donation), Hastings 5 0 0 The Secretary' (2nd donation), Weber 5 .0 0 Mr. A. Robertson, Weber 10 0 Mr. E. Morgan's black wool, Wiriibledon 1 7 8 Mr. Carlson, Awariki 1 .0 0 Total 103 15 10 . There is in New Zealand evidently great sympathy with and admiration for our Allies" in the life and death struggle waged on their own. soil by a determined and well-organised enemy; for in addition to the large amount already acknowledged there are other iors of wool in Messrs. Williams and Kettle's hands for their July crutehing sale, and more are intending to give crutehing wool when sending their consignments to the sale. Knowing that the resources of the French nation are being taxed .to the utmost, whilo they are fighting our battle as well as their own, the help given to their wounded must be very acceptable.—l am, etc., F. W. WHTBLEY", Hon. Secretary Church Army in New. Zealand. The Vicarage, Weber, H.B.
