News has just been received that Mr. Donald Monro, eldest sou of Mr. C. S. Monro, of Adelaide, and.nephew of Mr. J. D. Cruickshank, was killed in. action in Egypt on June 1. He enlisted with the Main Australian Body, and was on service during the whole of the Gallipoli campaign.

A welcome, home was tendered to Col. J. J. Essou, C.M.G., on Wednesday night by the residents of Ngaio. The Mayor of Onslow (Mr. C. C. Crnmp), Mr. E.'A. Wright, M.P.-, and Councillors Dale and Apgleton all paid tributes to tho merits of Col. Esson as a eoldie»and a man, and expressed the residents' pleasure at the honours conferred on him for tho valuable services ho had rendered to the Empire. On behalf of the Onslow Borough Council, the Mayor presented an address to Col. Esson. A' programme of musical and elocutionary items was given by Miss Amy Smith and G. Fathers, and Messrs. A. OakeT and Smith, Miss Finn acted as accompanist.
