After bis defeat of Marconi in the Gisboino Hurdles on Saturday, Gazette will no doubt be much fancied for the Park Hurdles at Napier. The chestnut son of Gazeley 6ccms to race more kindly over fences than he did on the flat. Master Malaehi broke down badly while racing at Gisborne, and will bo unable to start at Napier to-morrow. Multicipal, who is to make his first appearance in a Jumping event at Napier to-morrow, has been responsible for some good schooling tasks lately. M. Chaafe's gelding will be ridden by J. Deerey. ■ The three-year-old filly Gold Foil, by Hymettus—Gold Thread, was mated with Demosthenes last 'spring; without result, and ahe is now in training again at Napier, under the care of A. E. Neale, who tor some time past ; has been acting, as private trainer■ to Mr. G. P. Donnelly. Mr. \\\ J. .Ralph yesterday entered El Gallo for the principal jumping events at Iho oomihg Wellington Meeting, and after competing here the Spalpeen gelding will bo sent on to Riecarton. Mr. Ralph also owns a Spalpoen—Guidwife yearling filly, which he has entered for the principal weight-for-age events. Guidwife, who was bred at . Sir George Clifford's stud, and was sold to her present owner for 300 guineas, is now in foal to Wolawa, and next season goes back to Spalpeen. At Trenthnin tlio hurdle horses Arlington and Ormesby are being , regularly schooled in view of the approaching meeting of the Wellington Racing Club. S. Neary- left Auckland on Monday last and took with him his recent purchases Try Fluke and an untried half-sister by King Rufus to Crown Pearl. Tho; Auckland owner of. Troublesome is considering bringing the Spalpeen'gelding back to this country. Since being in Melbourne, Troublesome .has won half-a-dozen small races. " A. Reed, who leaves for Sydney to-day, has again contracted to ride for ' the Messrs. Riddiford and Mr. Loring during the coming season. • Jockey A. Oliver is on tho sick list again, and will shortly.' enter Dr. Herbert's hospital to undergo an operation. He will be compelled to miss tho Hawke'g Bay and Wellington Meetings, but will be out for tho Nationals. It transpires that A. Goodwin attended theraces at Moonee Valley in Melbourne after his arrival there, but subsequently ho took seriously ill, and had to enter a privato hospital, where he died. The Traquair horso Yeneda, who won several important races when trained by M. T. M'Urath' at. Caulfield, is now a member of V. O'Neill's tea;u, and is to. be raced in Tasmania. - Morning was weighted at 12st. in the Grand National Steeplechase at Flemington. The New Zealand-bred Do Gama is engaged at tho South Australian. Tattersail's Club Meeting, which is to to held on Saturday and Monday next.
The thoroughbred stallion Reputation has, left the Veterinary Hospital in Sydney, and has been sent to Mr. J. M'Donald's stnd.
The Soult horse El Bro, who showed .•jood'foruv in Melbourno this season, was sold early, this mouth for 115 guineas.
Maltegarde, who has been suffering from a bruised heel since the Blenheim Meeting, is now nearly herself again, and will be able to race at Trentham next month.

A Press telegram from Melbourne states that tho body of Goodwin,. Morning's trainer, 'whose death was reported a feiv days ago, lias been embalmed, and is being'sent to' New Zealand for burial.
