Combs, whoso name appears in the Classification List as clerk in the General Post Offico at a salary of ,£2OO a year, with "princiDal duties adjutant P. and T. Service Corn's," is also permanent secretary of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association (see the "Katipo" of May 20), for, which position his salary is understood to be -£350 a year, with travelling allowanco of JJISA per annum, making his total income -£7GO a yenr? (2) If the facts are as stated, what is the attitude of the Department to a Civil Servant holding a dual position ? (3) Does tho Department allow official time of an employee to be used for the discharge of. private duties? The Eight Hon. Sir J. G. Ward (Post-master-General) replied; Mr. Coinbs's secretarial work did not interfere with his permanent duties. The question, however, has been settled by the receipt of Mr. Combs's resignation as an officer of the Public Service, which has been accepted,
