The American Note to Mexico flatly rejects Cavranza's demand for the withdrawal of American troops, 'and rebukes Carr-anza for the discourteous tone and teipper of his last communication. Anti-American feeling is at fever heat iu Mexico. The United. States 'Consols and citizins are leaving the country. Carranza hopes that war will be avoid, od, but it is believed he will be unablfl to restrain his followers. The United States has dispatched a warship and some torpedo-boats to Mexican waters. Brigadier-General Funston is appealing for more troop's to guard the frontier, as the present > forces are insufficient. THE REBUKE TO CARRANZA New York, June 20. Router's Agency at Washington states that, in replying to the recent demand of the Mexican de facto Government for the immediate withdrawal of American troops from Mexican soil, Mr. Lansing, in a Note handed 'to the Mexican Ambassador, flatly refuses, and rebukes the Carranza Government for-the discourteous tone of its last communication. The Note Tecites a long series of outrages against Americans, both in.'Mexico and on the soil of the United-States, and expresses the belief that the Carranza Government does not desire, Villa and liis band to be captured, either by the troops of the United States or those of Mexico. The Note says: "Adherents of-.. Car-■ ranza,. and his soldiers, participated in the recent. attacks on American, towns, when the uncivilised act of mutilation was perpretated on the bodies' of the murdered Americans." The Note warns the Mexicans of the gravest consequences if, as they threaten to do, they appeal to arms; against the troops of the United States.
