* — '. ■ A YEAR'S PROGRESS. ' Tho annual report of tho Roseneath and Oriental Bay Municipal Association states that it.has co-operated with the School Committee and the Hataitai Ratepayers' Association ill their efforts to obtain accommodation for the increased number of pupils attending the' school. "Our school district has been increased by the addition of 100 acres to its'area. The' Education Board are erecting an up-to-date school on this site.. Through tho efforts of our association a number of seats have been placed around Oriental Bay which are greatly appreciated by residents and visitors to this increasingly popular locality. Street lamps have been granted by the Lighting Committee, whioh have greatly improved various localities. Tho thanks of tho district are due to the City Council for the splendid . improvement: effected to the , junction of Carlton Gore and Maida Vale Roads. The efforts of the association to obtain, suitable accommodation. for tho large number of bathers who use the beaches in Evans Bay, have resulted ,in the council deciding to erect sheds for both seses in Martin's Bay. which will be available for next season.

"For some time our association has been endeavouring to obtain an improvement to the foreshore in Oriental Bay. Wo aro pleased the City Council... has adopted tho city engineer's scheme. for tho'construction of a sea-wall and promenade, with suitable-steps-giving access to tho. beach.. When tho band rotunda and the 30ft. promenade is constructed around the bay and tho whole is illuminated, we are quito sure that this work will reflect great credit on the city engineer and City Council. Last year tho council placed the sum of -C3OO on the estimates for the improvement of the upper portion of Grafton Road from the fire station to the junction. of Hataitai. Wo ..understand this important work is tq be put in hand very'shortly. The residents of tho lower portion of Grafton Road havo contributed .£IOO as their portionof the,£3oo to be spent by the council on the widening and improving of this part of the road." _ Tho annual meeting will be held tais evoning.
