A FARMER REBUKED. ■ .-. By Telegraph—Press Associ-iiiori. jChristchurch, June 16. At a meeting of the Navy League War Fund Committee to-night, the following motion was carried: That the Canterbury Branch ot. tha Navy League have . read with regret the Press Association in tho newspapers, in which Mr. Ross, chairman of tho Auckland ■ Branch of the. Farmers' Union, expressed his opinion that it i 3 the duty of tho Imperial Government to provide for dependants of tho men of the Navy. The committee strongly disapprove of this suggestion, believing that no,man in this Dominion could maintain his-self-respect ; whilst, sheltering-wholly behind the Brit- , ish tax-payer, sinco the safety and wel- - fare of one and all depend absolutely on the supremacy of'the. British ,Navy.'" . v OTAGO THANKED. By Telegraph— Assriciitioa. Dunedin, June 16.
