KHANDALLAH DEBATING SOCIETY
-Ir. George Hogben, M.A., C.M.G., was unable to give his lantern lecture before 'the above society on Tuesday last, as. previously, notified, so the evening was devoted, to a debate, "That there should be no increase in profits or'wages during the war." -Messrs. A. Evans, J.. H. Meadowcroft, A. E. Burge, and G. Burt supported tlie affirmative, while the negative.was taken by Messrs. E. Nees, C. R. Luke, W. Appleton; A. E. Budd, C. Jones, and 11. L. James. The debate was of. a very interesting character, and ou the resolution being put to the-meeting the 'affirmative! was lost by a substantial majority. ______
