UPPER HUTT COURT
At a sitting of the Upper Hutt Court, on Wednesday, Jlr. 1). U. A. Cooper, S.M., presiding, K. Losser, for .riding a bicycle on tJie footpath, was fined as., with 7s. costs. For allowing stock to wander, G. Swensson was fined 55., with 7s. costs, and \V. Since was ordered to pay 15s. Gd. costs. ~ For failing to render military service, W. jßrougli and S. H. Boyle were each filled 55., and 7s. costs; and Ashley Keed, who was doscribod as a persistent offender, was fined -£5, with 7s. costs. AA r . Stevenson (represented by Mr. P. AV. Jackson), against whom a chareo of assault was preferred by E. Sullivan, was fined 40s„ and costs lis. illr. J. S. Barton appeared, for the plaintiff. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended cases: —Upper Hutt Town Board v. J. J. Jiahon, .£1 ss. 10d., co9ts 65.; same v. Ellen Mahon, 17s. 2d., costs 65.; J. Shout v. Mrs. L. Coker, <£8 14s. Id., and 10s. costs. J. J. Gcange, for whom Mr. K. H. Webb appeared, claimed the ' siini of oCI2 Bs. from H. Davis, represented by Sir. J. F. AV. Dickson. J ikU;ment was given for the amount claim'cd, with 7s. costs.
