DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION OPENS By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright' New York, June 14. A Router message from St., Loujs states' that the Democratic Convention opened with the usual speeches' and every expectation of winning. Mr. J. T. Marshall was nominated as Vice-Pre-sident with acclamation. A Renter message from Washington states that President Wilson, during a patriotic address, rebuked; the disloyalty of a small minority of citizens of foreign extraction (undoubtedly referring to German sympathisers), saying thai at this moment they were trying to "levy a sort of political blackmail under threat of vengeance at.the polls." It is believed he voiced one of the issues of the campaign which will be incorporated in the Democratio platform. GERMANS WELCOME HUGHES. London, June 14. The German newspapers are delighted tit Judge Hughes ousting Mr. Roosevelt.
