WOMEN'S NATIONAL RESERVE

RIFLE SHOOTING COMPETITION. Tho Women's National..Reserve Rifle Shotting suction, decided a handicap Ghootiug competition on the Y.M.C.A. range yesterday afternoon. The competition was for a trophy presented by Mr. A. E. M. Rowland. Thero were a large number of entries, and the conditions wero live shots, tho possible being _ ' The results -were as follow:—Miss llita Walker (scratch), 48; Misses Cable and Hogg, 47 each; Mrs. Bennic, JG; Miss l''rancis, 18; Miss E. Thompson, 42. The 6hooting generally was of high standard, the first seven competitors making an average of 90 por cent. Tho winner, Miss Walker, equalled 9G per cent., 'the record for the range. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. B. Howe gave a "knick-knack" evening at their residence in Brougham Street on Tuesday to members of the Brougham Street Lawn Tennis Club! in honour of Miss L. C. Morgan, who is, about to be married to Mr. E. F. Stevens. A very pleasant evening was spent, musical items being given by Miss Howe, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Howe, and Mrs. Norris. Two amusing competitions toot: place, the winners being Mrs. Morgan and Mr. T. AYard. Some pretty fancy'dancing was done by Mr. J. A. B. Howe's two little girls. Mr. \V. 15. Howe, on behalf of the members of the club, expressed good wishes for Miss Morgan's future happiness. The secretary availed himself of this opportunity to present the winners of tho club's patriotic tournament held in November last, with neatly printed certificates. The winners were: Ladies doubles—Misses Ivy and Eva Stevens. Combined doubles—Mrs. N. Burton and Mr. H. Sullivan. Ladies! Cold weather means warm attire.'/ Herb.
