Meanwhile the fighting' is daily growing in intensity. To- . day's reports record a gallant and successful attack by the Canadians, and some good trench-raiding -work by some of the Anzacs. The British heavy guns are now fn action. A temporary lull prevails on the Russian Southern European front, due, it is Btated, to the fact that the enemy has withdrawn quickly to ont-of-rango safety. The military situation on the .Italian front during the past fortnight has been improving steadily, ami to-day the enemy's line is well held along the front. , \ line interruptions, due to bad weather .on the Australian side, are delaying .the. cablegrams.
