On arrival at liyttelton this morning the Maori will berth at the outer end ol tho Gladstone pier—Lyttelton's new ferry berth. Some time ago the wharf was lengthened and widened to make it suitable for the ferry steamers (says tho Ghristohurch "Sun"). Since that time, however, it has been used for colliers and some oversea ships. Tho Ilailway Department expressed its willingness to givo the new berth a trial, as it obviated the necessity for shunting, but the shipping company objected, as it was considered by masters to 'be a, very awkward wharf at which to berth. Time alone will prove whether the wharf is suitable-for th« purpose. ' i Tho attention of readers is called to Messrs. Burns, I'hilp and Company's advertisement now appearing on the front page in connection with their personally conducted South Sea Island cruises.
