The Government steamer Janie Seddon, which departed on Sunday week last in search of the missing crew of the illfated Southern Isles, returned to Wellington early yesterday morning after a fruitless scarch. Captain Inkster, of the Janie Seoduii. informed a Dominion reporter that <i very thorough search was made, but to no avail. The search vessel went to Kelson, vja the French Pass, from Wellington, and left for Farewell Spit— the scene oi the wreck— on' Monday night. A closo examination of tho shore was made, and on getting into communication with land, it was found that all wreckage had dlsappcarctt.
