The death occurred at Gisborne yesterday of Mr. Wm. Duncan, manager of the' Poverty 'Bay Farmers' Meat Co., aged 69 years. The late Mr. Duncan, was prominently connected with the meat industry in Australia and New Zealand. He was for six years manager and secretary of the Canterbury Meat Company.—Press Association. Walter Henderson, V.D. At the conclusion of the memorial service to the memory of Lord Kitchener in . the Miramar Town Hall on Saturday night, a presentation was made to Conn, cillor S. M. Stone, who has been identic - fied with various institutions in theborough. The Mayor (Mr. F:, Townsend), in presenting. Councillor Stone with a handsome illuminated address, and an entree dish for Mrs. Stone, praised the work done ; by the recipient on the council, and the Fire Brigade. Ex-Mayors H. M'Leod and J. Brodie al<so bore testimony to the good citizenship; of Councillor Stone, who is leaving the -district to take up a new position. Councillor Stone feelingly responded on' behalf of himself and wife. . : The Rev. W. E. Gillam left Auckland by the midday express on Friday to act as relieving chaplain to the Expeditionary'Force at the Trentham Camp. Mr. Charles Stoddart, of Liverpool, who has spent the past four months fishing in the Taupo district, will leave thin week on his return to England. This has.been his sixth visit to New Zealand. ■
