Two Australian mails irill'arrive in Wellington to-morrow, one by tlie Riverina, which is due about noon from Syd- 1 liej-, the other is coming by the Niagara, which is due at Auckland to-day, also from Sydney. The next English mail is coming via San Francisco,'and will arrive by the Hoana, due on Thursday.

A united, memorial service for Earl Kitchener will be lield in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening. It is expected that His Excellency the Governor, the members of the Cabinet, and tho'members of. Parliament, will attend.

There was a threat of a panic at Everybody's Theatre on Saturday afternoon at about 3.30 o'qlock. The charges are that they—(l) Did make improper use of Abel Smith Street; (2) did certain acts in Abel Smith Street in which persons wero induced to congregate and impede the traffic. The cases will be heard at the Magistrate's Court on Friday nest. lleplving to a question by the Hon. .T. T. Ferryman, Hobt. Milligan, A. S. Adams, .I. J. Wesney, L. M. Isitt, M.P., E. J. Denton, Maurice Harding, and the Kcvs. .1. Cocker, A. Doitll, H. S. Gray, W, J. Gomrie, and A. E. Hunt. The estimated general receipts of the Ilutt River Board for 191G-17 are .i'llli-t, and tho expenditure .£1573, which includes old liabilities amounting to JB7G9, leaving an estimated deficiency of ,£lO3. Dp to March 31, 131G, tho amount spent out of the ,£SOOO loan was ,£l3Bi, and the amount estimated to be spent this year is .£IOOO. The rates will remain,the same.
