Wo have to acknowledge receipt of a cheque for <£8 2s. 6d. from tho N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Pahiatua, a donation to the Red Cross Fund. Tho amount was collected by bids for a herso presented by Mr. Alfred Diokins, Pongaroa, and auctioned at the Pongaroa 6tcck sale. The bids for the horse were: F. H. Buckingham, «£l; Murray, Roberts and Co., .£1; Wm. Pickett, .£1; H. P. Hansen, «C 1; A. Meech,;£l; J. Bowie, <£1; A. Olsen, M 2s. 6d,; J. Sorensen, 10s.; D. Buckley, 10s. Tho cheque is being forwarded to '.he secretary of the Red Cross Fund.
