KHANDALLAH DEBATING SOCIETY

At the -jveokly meeting of the IChandallah Literary and Debating Society, ilield on Tuesday evening, the subject takon was a debate, "That women should receive the same payment as men for ths samo work." The affirmative was taken by Messrs. C. Jones, A. E.' Budd, W. Appleton, C. R. Luke, and the chairman, while Messrs. E. Hobbs, J. M. Dale, G. Burt, and E. Cowles spoke in tho negative. Tho subject was debated amidst scenes of excitement and at times uproar. Oil tho resolution being put, the affirmative was carried on the casting vote of the chairman.

It was originally intended that Mr. George Ilogben should deliver a lecture on that evening, but on account of that gentleman's unavoidable absence it has been postponed until Tuesday evening next.
