NO MOTOR CARS
— RECEPTION OF WOUNDED SOLDIERS. The fact that the wounded soldiers vrlib returned to Wellington on. Wednesday had to walk from the wharf to the Town. Hall was brought under the notice of the Government by Mr. T. M. Wilford in the House yesterday. Mr. Wilford said that many of the men were lame, and so had to be helped along bv their comrades or their relatives. It was such a sight as ha hoped would never be seen again in the streets of Wellington. All the tasi-cabs' could easily have been commandeered to carry the. men. Ho asked the l'rime Minister to interest himself in the matter, and see that nothing of the sort occurred again. If 110 one else would undertake to provide motor-cars for~tlie men the Patriotic Society would see that they were provided in future. The Prime Minister said that he had. not heard of the matter previously. Ha was very strongly of opinion that lame and wounded men should not be asked to march. He did not know what arrangements were made' in the past, but ha believed that 011 previous occasions mo-tor-cars had always been provided by the patriotic people of Wellington. The Government had never been called upon to provide motor-cars in any one instance. Mi-. AVilfoi'd: Who is in charge of it? Mr. Masseyi I don't know. I think 1 nm right in saying that it is in chargcof the municipal authorities.
