MAORI'S LATE RUNNING
QUALITY OF THE COAL BLAMED.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, .Tune '8. The Maori is still running late 111 the ferry service. This morning it was S.JO bofore she arrived off tho moles-at Lyttelton and*again missed the first express. Inquiries elicited the fact that (luring recent weeks tho West Coast coal trade had been somewhat disorganised,, and large cargoes of coal are held up. Tho fuel at present supplied to the Maori is far below the usual quality, and under tho circumstances it is impossible to average anything like sixteen knots„tn tho run between tho two ferry ports. Until a better supply of coal is available there is littlo prospect of the steamer arriving at Lyttelton at 7 a.m.
