THE CALL FOR MEN

RECRUITING SATISFACTORY. There was an excess of SO men over and abovo No. 5 Group's, quota in camp with the Seventeenth Reinforcements yesterday when the following were sent to TrenDuncan, P. G. Stringer, J. G. Hutchison, A. J. Reynolds, J. J. Mooney, and J. H. Shea. On paper there are nino men in excess for the .number required for the Eighteenth draft, while 65 fit men have registered for tho 10th, 45 for the 20th, 23 for the 21st, and 40 for later infantry drafts. Tho city's quote for each Reinforcement is 172. The above Tesults. are considered T>y the Defence authorities ..to be encouraging, and it is hoped that the present rate of recruiting will continue, as the aim of the Recruiting Board is to lhave the various drafts filled up for at least six months ahead. _

. Registrations at No. 5 Group Areft Office yesterday numbered 37—there being 28 fit recruits, three unit, and one temporarily unfit. T'ho names of the latest fit recruits are:—
