BAITING THE PRO-GERMANS,

By Telegraph—Press Association.

- ' Gore, June 7. There was some excitement in the town last evening.- Shortly after 8 o'clock the foundry whistle was blown unauthorisedly. Later a falsa alarm was given. Crowds gathered, and it was rumoured that it was hoped the participants, in Sunday's celebrations in regard to Germany's part in the naval battle would emerge and the crowd would "deal" with them, but this did not eventuate. A second fire alarm waa given shortly before 10 o'clock, when two small haystacks were found to be on fire. They belonged to William R-ambaum, an aged naturalised German. The bulk of the hay was saved. The owner suspects incendiarism by persons unknown. ' '
