THE ALLEGED POLICE RAID. A statement that a Tecent raid amongßt SustrTans employed at the Dominion Cement Company's works near Whanga-' rei had resulted in the seizure of a large number of firearms and a quantity of. ammunition was referred to in the House of Representatives yesterday by Mr. Poole, who asked tho Minister of Defence if liis attention had been drawn to the matter.
sfr. Allen said that the truth' of the statement had been denied. Ho had no doubt that tho matter would be looked into by 1 the Minister in. chargo of tho Police Department. The Hon. A. L. Herdman, Minister in charge of the Police, said that ho had had no communication from the police on the suuject. Instructions had been given some time ago that all weapons m Hie hands of the Austrians should bo taken possession of by tho_ police. J < The Prime Minister said that in regard to the Austrians, an arrangement was being made which lie had every confidence would provo satisfactory to the people of the whole of New Zealand, especially those in the North of Auckland.
