' The .Governor has received from FieldMarshal Earl Kitchener, K.G., tho following telegram in reply to one addressed to him by His 1 Excellency, asking whether he and General Joffre would allow their names to be- associated with the Queen Mary Hospital at Hanmer: — .

''I highly appreciate suggestion, and it gives me much pleasure to assent. I regard it as a great privilege to have my name thus .associated with the gallant Now Zealand troops with their fine record of service. General JWTre, Commander-in-Chief of the French armies; says he is profoundly touched at the honour which New Zeftland lias done him. He will be proud at knowing that a ward for sick and wounded of troops who have fought so brilliantly bears his name. . ; "(Sgd.) SITCHENER."
