Captain Gibson, master of the steamer Stormbird, who is a brother of the master of the Southern Isles, approached the Marine Department on Saturdarnight and said that as there was a possibility that the crew of the wrecked scow having been blown out to sea in the snip's boat, the Department might institute a search. Yesterday the Hon. Dr. M'Nab (Minister of Marine), finding that the training ship Amokura. could .not be got ready without some delay, applied T6 Colonel J. Allen, Minister of Dofence, for the uso of the Defence steamer Janie Reddon. This was promptly granted, and the vessel sailed at once for the sceno of the wreck, Captain Gibson accompanying her. As there were only five men m tho crew of the Southern Isles, and also as her owners think that they could holt} out for a week, if at sea. iu the ship's boat, it is hoped that the Janie Seddon will como across them.
