FARMERS' ART UNION. The farmers of Horowlienua, Kairanga, Mnnawatu, and E-angitikei are determined that all 6oldiers while in their districts Bhall not be neglected, but will have a place for recreation and enjoyment. With this object in view they have contributed 2200 sheep to bo disposed of by . art union, and the -sum realised will be used to build and endow a club on the M'Hardy gift section for free use for all time to all soldiers 'and sailors of the Empire. This step speaks volumes for • the . generosity and farsighted. practical patriotism of these farmers. For the modest sum of one shilling a ticket nVay be'obtained which gives the purchaser, 250 chalices of obtaining a prize. Mr. P. A. M'Hardy is chairman of .the-Art Union Committee, and this. 6hould be sufficient guarantee to the public that the art union will b-' run "on business lines and in an econ/ mical manner. ; . ■.
