THE WEEKLY REPORT OF THE DEPARTMENT.

Tlie following progress statement of the work of tho Discharged Soldiers' Infor-mation-Department has been furnished by the; Minister in Charge (tlio Hbni A. L, Hordman): — (1) Total number of men ou rogister*.— (a) Disposed of, 2518; (b) under action, 1094; (c) not ready for action (including men returned by recent transports), 1001: total 4616.

(3) Particulars showing liou* cases dealt with i—(A) Cases disposed'of! (a) Left Now Zealand, or cannot ascertain address', 100; (b) re-enlisted or returned to military duty, nr have work to return to, etc., 1166; (c) men who have signed "assist, jinco .not'" required," 'G9l; .(d) men .'.placed in employment,. 512; (e). men who havo hot responded to repeated comnrunications, and men who havo accepted work the Department found for them, but failed 1 to start work,' 79; total, 2518.
