A NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PRI< VATE OPINION OF THE STUDEBAKER. - The Tourist Motor Co., Hastings, know* ring that - we are closely interested in Studebaker motois, have forwarded to us-' '.ft copy of a lengthy business letter sent ' thorn by Mr. Allan H. M'Lean,'tho en■gineer of their firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating the claims of the ■1916 models of tho great American auto*' mobile manufacturers. Tho Tourist Mn tor Co. have very courteously, given us permission to publish extracts 'from tho letter, and we extrsct the following para;, graph as likely to- interest owners anq prospective owners of Studebaker ears "My honest opinion about the Studebaker' 1 car is that it is the best value for money, On the American market, and- as far as finish and workmanship aro concerned it is second to none. I consider that :we would be foolish to take up the agency' for any higher priced car that-is baillj here, because if we repaint tho Stude< baker and equip it with wire wheels i( would be equal to the Minerva in appear'.' mice and quietness of running. Tho engine is the cleanest designed one that I have inspected." It may be explained that Mr. M'Leaiv's mission to America" was to secure the agency of a high-priced American car to take the place-of the firm's Silent Knight Minerva agency.' Thero is a good market in Hawke's Bay. for the very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lean's honest opinion regarding the Studebaker is that thero is no' American car on the market fcettei' than the Studebaker at any price. Th» five-seater touring Studebaker (i-cylindei-. 25 h.p.), with electric solf-stnrter and elec ; trie lights, sells in Now Zealand for ,£'345, jtho three-seater Studebaker, with same equipment, being priced at JT335.
