NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS
SIB ROBERT WALKER'S' PRAISE,
Sir Robert Walker, of the Coldstream Guards, now at Trentham, who presentfill the large billiurd table to tho King George V Hospital at Rotorua, replied to Colonel Newall's letter, of thanks in the following letter, written front Emsworth, Trentham:—
■ "I was delighted to get your letter this morning, and to hear'that the billiard table lias now* been finally erected. 1 hope it will prove a success, and be a means of recreation especially during the winter months. In reply 'to the very kind remarks which you made in your iettfer, I can only,, say that any pleasure which may-be derived from the billiard table is little compared to the pleasure which it gives me to be able to do somethwg for the returned and invalid New /blunders Tho more I see of tliem the "etter_ain I able to realise their sterling qualities, and it is a real pleasure to be associated- with them in their training." 1 Colonel Newall replied to Sir Robert's letter as follows:— -
i J thank -you very much for your nice letter of the 23rd instant, which I have published, in exteneo, in orders to-night. I. am very glad to know that you have so good an opinion of the New Zealand boys, and it is such kindly words as those you uso which bind us all closer if that be possible, to the dear Motherland and her soldier sons, who, like yourself, sojourn among us for a season."
