WAR BONUS

TOR CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEES.

At a special meeting of the. City Council, held, on Thursday , of last week, it wm unanimously decided: "That 10 per cent; be paid by way of war bonus on nil Wages as, at June. 10, 1915, exclusive of overtime, and also 4!15 per annum by way of war bonus to all salaried officials in receipt of not more than £200 per annum. This resolution, to take effect oil June 1, 1910, and to remain in force during the pleasure of the council."

When the confirmation, of the business done at the special meeting came up for confirmation. Councillor John HutChesou wished to know who had had the impudence to alter the resolution referring to the war bonus, and pointing out that the words "with the exception of junior officers female staff" had been added to the resolution a,? passed by the committee. He was amazed that anyone should dare, rightly or wrongly, to meddle with any. resolution. It ought not to be done.
