ALLEGED ROBBERY IN A BAR
' ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.
:i;\ At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, be- 1 ' fore Mr. D. G. A. Ccoper, S.M., two V young men named Henry Donald Camp. bell and Albert Edward Robinson, ■Tespec--11.11.l 1 . lively, were charged : that on May 2t in the AlbioJi Hotel' bar' they committed • theft of £6 from Rana Bagvan, a Hindu, :'y using violence. ; « % Inspector Hendtey, . who prosecuted, j «aid that Bagvan visited, the Albion ; Hotel, and when about to leave the bar the accused entered. . Campbell seized the Indian by the throat, while Robin- , ; .son rifled his pockets.' The men were ar. rested two days later and identified by - Bagvan. . ... The complainant seated his case through i; on interpreter. He said he could not '. call out because he was too firmly held ■ ! by Campbell,-and lie- was powerless < against two such men. Wm. Chas. Gillham, barman, said the ■ assault and robbery were very quickly 'J done. He saw Campbell with his hands round Bagvan's- throat, and saw Robin. ■ son going through his pcckets. He called • out, and the accused left, the bar, Robin. * son evidently holding something closed in his band. He pointed the men out to Sergeant Willcox next day. Sergeant Willco.t- gave .evidence of ar- ■ resting tho men and their identification t by Bagvan. Accused, who wero not represented by ". counsel, were committed to the Supreme C.- Court for trial. Bail was allowed in tho .sum of -',100 each, with' one surety of ' XIOO each, or two sureties of £50 each.
