BETTER DAYS FOR BRITISH PRISONERS

WOUNDED SENT TO SWITZERLAND. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Berne, May 30." The first contingent of five hundred wounded British prisoners from Germany have arrived at Chateaui Does for a sojourn in hotels and boardinghouses under Swiss supervision, in return for similar facilities to Germans from England. The British residents made great preparations for their reception. [It was previously stated that the most complete arrangements had been made for the reception of the first British prisoners from Germany requiring exceptional treatment. They will be accommodated two and three in a room and receive the same diet as Swiss soldiers—coffee, bread, cheese, butter, jam, soup, meat,. and vegetables. The allowance of bread for each meal exceeds the daily allowanco in Germany- Local British committees are supplying the men with underclothing, handkerchiefs, slippers, and toilet requisites. A special committee of British ladies undertakes their washing and mending. The Swiss Red Cross doctors aro selecting the men from the German camps. A number of French and Belgian prisoners have already arrived.]
