Chappelow, a-conscientious objeotor of London, on being called up for service, refused to. don the uniform of a soldier, and for two days remained in a blanket. -He was brought before a distriot court-martial' on three charges of disobeying, while on active service, the lawful commands of a superior officer, in that {1) he did not undress for medical'examination; (2) did not draw his ciotTTing; and (3) , did not put on his uniform when ordered to do so..
.After. listening to 'much legal argument, tta Court decided to refer the 'question of jurisdiction, to tho convening authority for further instructions, and in view of the. exceptional circumstances of the case, to ask for the assistance of a legal adviser.
