(4 p.m.'), for ' New Plymouth, via way ports. THE SYDNEY BOAT. The prevailing gale was probably responsible for the delay in tho arrival of the Manuka from Sydney. According to a radio message received from Captain Clift yesterday, tho vessel was to arrivo in tile stream early this morning. Sho will berth at the Queen's Wharf, No. 1 south, first thing this morning. THE ORAM'S OFFICERS. The liner Orari, which arrived at Auckland on Saturday morning from New York, via Panama Canal, is reported b;' an Auckland paper t-o have experienced fine weather throughout her voyage, which was entire!:' without incident. Captain Weston wis in charge when the Orari was hero in November last-. The chief, Mr. Dawson, was also with the steamer on her last voyage. The second officer, Ml'. Lamb, is late of the Itemuera, and Mr. Jl'Kay, tile third of tlio ltuapchu. The fourth, Mr. Crockett, is from the Hawke's Bay. The fourth engineer, Mr. Knowles, was on tho East Ooast steamer Mako twelve months ago, and the fifth engineer, Mr. Lundius, hails from Wanganui.
THE MAPOURIKA EN ROUTE FOR WELLINGTON. With about 200 tons of cargo for Wellington, the Mapourika, which arrived at Auckland on Sunday from Papeete with the disabled Flora in tow, left the northern port yesterday afternoon. She should show up here to-morrow. It it not. yet decided what this vessel will do on arrival here, but- it is probable that she will lay up for overhaul. • THE JfAMARI FROM LONDON. The Shaw-Savill liner Mamari is due to arrive at Auckland to-day from London. The liner left the Home port on March 28. It is expected that she will be at Wellington on June 7. . .. ATHENIO DUE ON SUNDAY. Tho Shaw-Savill liner Athenic is due to arrive at Hobart from London to-day. Ths liner ;will come on to Wellington, and should show up here on Sunday, June. 4. Passengers and mails will be landed and departure will be taken for Auckland to commence discharge. SCHOONER HOUTO SOLD. It is reported that the well-known auxiliary schooner Houto has been sold to the Otago Rolling Mills. Company, and will in future bo-engaged in the coastal trado collecting scrap iron for the mills. Tho Houto, a vessel of 77 tons, last visited Wellington a few months back'. The Otago Rolling Mills recently purchased tho barque Antiopo, which was about to bo turned-into a, hulk in Wellington Harbour. THE HIMITANGI AT CHATHAMS. A radio message has been received that tho Hiinitangi arrived at Waitangi (Chatham Islands) from Lyttelton at noon on Saturday last. It is' expected that tno vessel will return to Lyttelton on Friday next, and is duo at Wellington on Sunday morning. She -will leave for tho Chathams direct on Monday. THE MIDDLESEX AT AUCKLAND. A Ercss Association message received lasfc evening stated that the F. and S. liner Middlesex arrived at Auckland from Liverpool, ,via Australian ports, last night. The liner is expected to arrive in Wellington about Monday next, June 5. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. . Mr. D. A. Butler, purser of tho Maori, has come ashore from that vessel on leave. Mr. S. B. I'ilclier, late of the Te Anau, relieves Mr. Butler. Mr. L. Smart has signed'on .the Monowai as assistant.purser. The Hinemoa did not leave Auckland for the northern lighthouses yesterday as was anticipated. Sho expects to clear that port to-day.
The Victoria, which will leave Lyttelton to-morrow evening for Wellington, will bring a draft of Reinforcements from that port. She will proceed on to Sydney, via the north, on Thursday night, • Tho Westport Coal Company's collier Canopus will make her appearance at this port to-morrow with a load of coal from Westport. She will probably return to the Wost Coast port on Thursday evening. Tho uufavourable weather was responsible for tyic postponement of the Monowai, which was to have left* for northern ports yesterday. The vessel is timed to leave, at 3 o'clock this afternoon. Auckland cargo only will be received to-morrow morning.
The Union Company's W altomu, from San Francisco, via Auckland, arrived at Napier from tho northern port yesterday morning. She was to havo discharged a. portion of her cargo of oil at that port and is expected to leave for Wellington to-day. She should bo here to-morrow. .
The Kini, from southern ports, arrived In port and berthed at the Jervois Quay Wharf shortly after midday yesterday. A very rough passage was experienced, by the vessel, which, although she was -within a short distance of the Heads at midnight on Sunday, wub' unable to pick' up tho •lights, and consequently, stood out to sea until the morning. Tho-Kini will leave this evening for Westporti En route from tho Bluff to Auckland, tho Warrimoo Is to co.ll in to Wellington today for bunkers
No word has yet been received of the departure of. the colliers Komata and Ivahika,, from Westport. The vessels aro fully laden- with coal for this port, and have been unable to kavo on account ot the rough weather at the bar.
From Greymouth tho Blackball Coal Company's collier Ng-atoro is due in port, coal-laden, to-morrow. Tho vessol will return to Greymouth, probably on Thursday. The Calm has been delayed at Tima.ru with tho bad weather, and is not expected to arrive here until to-morrow. She' will procccd on ,to Wanganui the Eame- day.
Owing to lier periodical overhaul intervening, the Wostralia will not leave Sydney for Auckland and southern ports until a day later than usual- this week.
The Rosamond arrivod in port from Dunedin at 7.30 o'clock last evening. The'little vessel received a very severo buffeting on the trip up, and in the words of one of those on board, "she rolled so much that tho door mats turned over." Th-» trip wa3 not without accident. A member of tho crew, a lad named A. Morris, slipped and fell down the companion-way, injuring his back. On arrival in poTt Dr.; Pollen was summoned, but the injury was found to be not at all serious.
