BILLIARDS
Notwithstanding the stormy weather quite a. large number ventured from the iireside to witness the semi-finals in tho Alcock -Billiard-Diner Tournament. Play proved of an excellent character, and Borne of the finishes were very close. In A Section, Kell (owes 50) beat Jraser (owes 75), after a keen jramo of nicc, freo and delicate play. Perhaps fortune favoured the winner slightly. Cw'tafnly th'j loser had rather more than a. fair proportion of difficult. shots and awkward positions to negotiate. Tucker (owes 250) had littlo diflioulty in disposing of De L'atour (rec. GO), who was not playing nearly so well as on previous occasions.
In B Section Brown (owes 10) beat Por-teous-(rec. 50), and Bradley (rec. 30) beat Fulton (rec. 75). In this latter game the winner g?ve a-Very clever exhibition of winning hazards, and seemed to 1)0 able to "pot" a ball with certainty from almost any position. The best "breaks were Tucker, 121, S4-, 48; Kell, 48, 42; Eraser, .17, 25; Brown 42; Bradley 33.
To-night, at 7.3D, tho finals will be played, when in A Section, Tucker meets Kell, and in ]! Section Urown meets Bradley. Ladies are requested to attend *arly, as seating accommodation is somewhat limited.
