The New' Zealand Loan aud Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Alfredton on Thursday we had a large yardiug of both sheep- and cattfe. The quality of tho sheep all round was particularly good, and met with keen competition. With tho exception of two *pens of cattle and one small pen of sheep we made a total .clearance under tho hammer at the following prices:—2B two-tooth wethers, 275. 2d.; Ml. two aud four-tooth wothers, 265. Bd.; 242 do., 255. 10d.; luO two-tooth wethers, 205.; 110 four-tooth 'to four-year ewes, 275.; 51 live-year ewcsirfcls. 3d.; 60 aged ewes, ViOs.; 53 empty ewes, 215.; 125 shorn • wether lambs, 1&3. 9d. ; 30 woolly lambs, 17s. E5.; twenty-months steers, £6 165.; Polled.Angus and Hereford, weaner steers, '£5. Bs.; two and a half-year Shorthorn heifers, in calf, £8; P.A. and Hereford weaner heifers, £4 65.; light fat heifers, £7 75.; light fat cows, £7 55.; store cows, £4 lis. to £o 10s.; mixed weanors, £3 Is.: bull, £3 8s Mr. Newton King roports:—At Douglas oh May 22 lambs mode 14s. Bd., culls 75., ewes in lamb 1&3. Bd.,_ forward ewes 225., fat and forward wethers-28s. 6d., fat and forward cows £8 to'£9 165., store cows £5 10s.' to £6 10s., fat bullocks £12 15s. to. £15 - 155,, twenty-month steers £5 to £5 16sv empty heifers £4- 135., weaner heifers £2 7s. 6d., weaner steers £2 175,. At Stratford on May 23 I had a full yarding, all pens being well filled. Bidding was very keen on twenty-month steers, these selling at from £5 19s. to £6 18s. Other prices were:—Fat cows, £9 10s. to,£ll 55.; forward cows, £7- 12s. 6d. to '£9; good fresh-condi-tioned cows, up to £7; store cows, from £4 17s. 6d. to £6; springing heifers, £7 2s. 6d. to £8 12s. 6d.; empty heifers, £3 7s. to £3 175.; eighteen-month in-calf heifers, £4 65.;; weaner steers, £2 Bs. to £3 55.; weaner heifers,*36s. to £2 25.; two and a half-year steers, £9 16h. ; small bull, £4 2s. 6d.medium bull, £8 .10s. to ,£8 155.; lambs, lis. 9d.. to 135.: sis-tooth and f.m. ewes in lamb, 245.; sound-mouthed ewes in lamb, 21s. 9d.; fat ewes, 275. j forward ewes, 235. 9d.
