GREECE INVADED BY THE BULGARIANS
CLAMOUR AT ATHENS GOVERNMENT EXPLAINS QUEER , DEALINGS ' THE CALL FOR MORE MUNITIONS' - At one o'clock this morning very little news. Lad como from Verdun beyond an unofficial message stating that the French had initiated an attack with the 'object of recovering the village of Cumieres, and that'good progress had been made. Details from tho Anstro-Italian front aro also meagre, the chief item being a review of tho military situation. The sensation of the day is tho Bulgarian invasion of Greece, and tho, peculiar actions of the Greek Government with regard to tho surrender of Greek frontier defences, and also,, still niore peculiar, the semi-official explanation of this surrender. Apropos, one Venizelist newspaper asks: "Why is the Greek Army mobilised?" Mr. Lloyd George's appeal for work to go on right through the Whitsuntide holidays has encountered a mixed reception, tho employees raising various objections. Mr. J. Norton Griffiths has published in the "Weekly Disprdch" a striking appeal for mow munitions. "If," he says, "there is uny slackness, I fear tho consequencesit is just as serious as that." Whatever happens, Tie urges, we must not bo caught short of supplies,-and the enemy seems to have unlimited quantities. President Wilson's, peace doelaration is published tu-day.
