HATAITAI RIFLE CLUB.
•NEW. ORGANISATION FORMED. As an outcomo of tho trouble betweon the Hataitai Branch of tho National Reserve and Headquarters, a meeting of residents of Hataitai and North lulbirhio was held last evening to consider proposals for forming a riflo deience corps. Mr. 11. Amos presided. _ The objects of the new organisation ar# as follow:— , .. (1) To promote and foster rifle shoohna Q3 a defence rifle club, untler the Dofence Act, by means of miniature rango and field. scrvico conditions. Tho semoe oi the club would be offered to any -organisation such as the Red Cross Society' local branch of tho Women's National Unserve, etc. It was also proposed to encourage shooting among the boys Is.' allowing those recommended by the • Officer Com. mo.nding the use of the club s miniature range. _ „ On the motion of Mr. -H. Rogers, seconded by Mr. H. Tolan, it was resolved unanimously, and without to form a Hataitai Defence Rifle Club, having the above objects in view. Mr. Leigh Hunt was of the opinion that as so mucSj money was being paid out by individuals in. tliß district to various patriotic funds, it would be a good idea if all the money could be paid out through the; Hataitai Defence Riflo Club. He would therefore move that the following be added to the objects oi the organisation: "To provide a district fund, into which the donations. of members and residents could be paid, ar.d to stimulate regular monthly subscriptions to any of the patriotic and other funds, according to the desire of the donors." .
The motion was carried unanimously. It was decided that tho animal subscription shall not excoed five shillings.
