A. NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PEL VATE OPINION OF THE STUDEBAKER. • T!l <\' l '°' ,lrist Co., Hastings, ;kno"ivliig that we are closely interested in btudebaker motors, havo forwarded to us ft copy of a lengthy business letter sent them by Sir. Allan H. M'Lean, the enginoer oftheir firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating the claims of the 1916 models of the great American automobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. have very courteously given -us permission to publish'extracts from' the letter, and we extract the following paragraph as likely to', interest owners anc prospective owners of Studebaker cars:— "My honest opinion about the Studebaker car is that it is the best value for money on the American market, and as far as finish and woflcmanship are concerned it is second to none. 1 consider that wo would be foolish to take up the agency for any higher priced car that is bailt here, because if wo repaint the Studebaker and equip it with wiro wheels it would be equal to the Minerva in appearance and quietness of running. The engine is the cleanest designed one that I have inspected." It may be explained that Mr. M'Lean's mission to . America was to secure the agency of a high-priced American car to take the place of the firm's Silent ICnight Minerva agencv. There is a good market in Hawlce's 13aj for the very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lean's honest opinion regarding the Studebaker is that there is no American car on the market Utter than the Studebaker at any price. The iive-soator. touring Studebaker (J-cylinder. 25 h.p.), with electric self-starter and dectrie lights, sells in New Zealand for ,£345, the thrco-scater Studebaker, with same equipment, being priced at ,f335.
