Barometer unste&dj- for a short time in the north, but rising further in the(south. North-westerly breezes have ruled in the north, and west l to south-westerly -winds, strong to gale, in the south. Unsettled and squally weather has. been experienced in and southward of Oook Strait. Snow has been reported on higher levels, and. hailstorms have occurred 'in Southland.
