AT 4 P.M.'YESTERDAY. Present indications iirc for high westerly to south-westerly Trinds. Expect cloudy, •unsettled, and squally conditions, with I rain following generally, and snow on I higher levels. Barometer unsteady, with o. falling tendency, but probably rising temporarily in. the (south in about 1A hourß. Atmospheric pressure >has continued low in the south, and westerly winds have prevailed, with gales in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Fair to cloudy weather has ruled in tho north, but rain has fallen on high •country in the western and southern parts of tho South Island.* , D. C.
