'LETTER FROM LADY SCOTT. The following letter lias been, received from Lady (jcott, to whom lias been entrusted the work of preparing the Christchurcli memorial to Captain Scott. Arrangenieiits have been mado for the memorial to bo shipped' without delay, and it is expected to arrive in New Zealand in the course of the nest few weeks:— "Carrara, March 21, 1916—1 am glad to tell you thV. 1 am at Carrara, at work, on tho marble statue of Captain Scott, and that the work is progressing wci!, so that 1 think I shall be able to ship it from hero en.rly next month. Of course, it will have to be transhipped in LonJon, hut I am hoping to arrange for no delay. You will l>e glad to hear that it is a remarkably fine piece of marble of a good colour, and without any flaw whatever. Considering the great size, this is very fortunate. There have been infinite difficulties in getting the work don-), as there have been great troubles in _iho quarries here, caused by the prohibition of importing marble into England, and I foresee there may he moro in the shipping, but I will wait horo until I am satisfied that there will not be n-ucli delay. To my mind the marble is going lo be a great improvement upon the bronzo now erected in London."
