MOTOR ACCIDENTS. TWO PEDESTRIANS INJURED. A serious accident occurred on Lambton Quay near the Occidental Hotel, between fi o'clock and 7 o'clock last evening. Whilo two pedestrians—Miss Lynch and lliss : Be-rnside —were waiting for ii tramcar to come along they were struck by a motor-car driven by L. Oones. Tho motor was proceeding to the telephonebox,' as the driver desired to communicate witli his home, and the two ladies, after endeavouring to avoid the car, wero knocked down. The driver states that the iirst move by the ladies would have taken them clear of his car, but one of them afterwards pulled the other back. According to the police report, one of the ladies stated that .they misjudged the direction of the car, and became confused immediately before being struck. Both were removed to tho Hospital. ' Miss Beriiside was suffering from slight injuries to head and face, .but Miss Lynch was more seriously injured, and' at a lato hour last night was reported to bo still unconscious. IN.
