The German semi-official Clerical paper, "Germania," declares that at the outset of tho war Australia was whole-heartedly on the side of England, believing in her righteousness, and also fearing tboj; Germany would embroil Japan with Australia. Now Australian enthusiasm 'was dead, and recruiting nil. The Germans quote Mr. MacElliott, an Adelaide member of Parliament, as saying that Australia's debt to England had now been discharged, and it was probable that a strong peace movement would ariso in Australia, with rhich London must reckon. v
