GRADING OF TEACHERS

THE REGULATIONS GAZETTED. . Regulations to govern the new Dominion Grading' Scheme for teachere are gaHetted. ' It is provided that the grading shall is done annually by the inspectors of the several education districts. For the purposes of determining the . grading of teachers of any district, the teachers ehal be devided into six groups to be determined as •'• 7 , Group A: Head teachers with salary of Grade I, and assistants with Balary of Grade 1 or 2. /. V ; - Group E: Head teachers with salary of Grade; V. . ■ Group F: Head teachers with salary of Grade VI or VII. There ■ are several exceptions dealing with teachers in part: time schools,. relieving and temporary teachers, teacher who have not previously hold a permanent position, the kindergarten mistress, and the senior secondary assistant, and the solei teacher, in normal schools, the teachers in separate girls' or boys' schools, and Native school teachers... For the purposes of . grading, marks shall bo allotted on the following basis:— Skill in teaching, maximum maris ... 40 Personality and discipline 15 Organisation and management. 15 Environment 1 5 Academic attainments 15 Service 15 Total maximum, 100 marks. To the total marks thus ascertained shall be added in every case quotas prescribed as follows:—Group A. 10 marks: B, 20 marks: C, 30; D, 40; E, 50 ; F, 60. Such quota is for the purpose of -weighting the value of the marks in the successive groups in recognition of the relatively higher qualifications demanded by tho higher "positions.
