Madame Dufloii, one of the club's oldest members, now on a visit to Wellington, contributed a recitation entitled "L'Aveng le Beige et son Fils." Then followed the r-eadmg of a comedy by Legouve, "Ma 'Fille et :mon Bieu." •Tho arranging of this play was due to Madame Dechanet-M'lntosh, who ,took one of the principal parts, that of Madame : Desgranges, the heroine's mother. As a kind mother trying to shield her daughter from disappointment, and. as a wife, finding fault with her husband, who will not.give his daughter a dowry sufficient .to satisfy the., young man's father, Madame Dechanet-M'lntosh displayed great histrionic ability. Miss Mead, who took the part of the heroine, showed a good deal of feeling in the rendering of her part. Mr. Adamson, as the heroines suitor, and afterwards her husband, and Mr. Whetton, especially, as the stem father, read their parts very well. Mr. Carter and Mr. Cooko filled minor parts in tho cast. On the motion of Mrs. Sevillei a. hearty vote of thanks'; was passed to tlio renders. , SUBDIVI3IONAL TiATtTI SAIiE-FDKI PUKI ESTATE. ■ ' On .
