They crept out at night, and were halfway across the no-man's land between the opposing trenches, when the German searchlights found them. Two machine guns opened fire and 1 several tfcro badly wounded. The rest lay silent for hours, and then crept oil. ehpnsd the entangle-' monts and sprang into the trenches. The Germans were so certain that the attack had been driven off that thov were panic-stricken and did not wait for the cold steel, nnd the Minsters brought back the placards in triumph to the Irish trenches.
